"I was complete mess when I found Kassandra–mentally and physically. I’ve taken both public chair classes as well as private sessions over our past 3 years together. When we met, I was walking with a cane, bent over, and in a lot of pain. Now, I am walking without a cane for 1 1/2 years, am walking straighter, and my pain has decreased significantly. Friends comment how I’m more flexible and on how much better I’m walking, how different I am, and how much more relaxed I am.
Our work together started with working on the body, but it's incredible how much Kassandra has helped me with my mental and emotional health! I was facing many issues concerning family, relationships, negative self-talk, low self-worth, and low body image and now I feel much more confident and with a new sense of self esteem. I've learned to listen to the needs of my body, both mentally and physically, as well as how to express myself, which I wasn't able to do before. I used to say "Yes" to everything, "Sorry" to everything, and I don't do that anymore. To me it feels like a 360 degree change.
I'm not as worried about what others think of me and I don’t need the validation of others (it used to be very important to me). I don't feel lonely anymore, where I used to feel lonely when I was married, lonely with my friends. I used to be scared of being alone, whereas now I'm alone but I'm not lonely. The people that are coming towards me now are nicer to me, and accept me for myself. This is really what's happened to me, I'm not making it up. I'm really proud of how far I've come. I never would have said that 3 years ago."
"I have for a long time loved Kass's classes and approach to meditation - it was an honour to arrive in a training setting (40hr Chair and Therapeutic Yoga Training) and discover how beautifully subtle the work is. While part of me wants to master concepts and principles, the other part wants to let go and allow my understanding to come in pieces, moments and sensations. Kass's openness to this is wonderful.
This training really opened up my vision of how I get to deeper and healing places in my personal practice. I thought "getting there" was a mixture of working hard (in some capacity, movement or stillness) and luck - sometimes I got there, other times I did not. I did not trust myself. Kass taught me above all that I could trust the process, and this changed everything. I feel joy now in beginning rather than concern I won't get there. This feels essential too when it comes to the idea of teaching.... Kass embodies this trusting element and offers it to their students with gentle, kind and confident wisdom.
Kass changed my practice and therefore my understanding of myself in ways hard to describe. I feel myself returning to these teachings more and more and feel so grateful."
I recognize that the sacred land on which I work has been a site of human activity for upwards of 15,000 years. This land has been tended and cared for over time by the Anishinaabe First Nations, the Huron-Wendat, the Petun, the Seneca, the Mississaugas of the Credit River, as well as many others unrecognized and unrecorded. This territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. This covenant to care for the land and treat it as an equal partner in all decisions, was extended to settlers when these allied nations opened their arms to us all landing in Tkaronto (Toronto) and broader area. How can each of us continue to uphold this covenant on the land we walk on daily, so that our generation and future ones can continue to gather and practice together here for the next 15,000 years.
